Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
WHAT IS FEA?
Finite Element Analysis is a technique that models a given system using a finite number of nodes or elements. A mesh of node to node connections is established, with a greater node density used in typical locations of high stress. The mesh is accurately modeled to contain all material properties and dimensions of the structure. The analysis uses a series of user-defined linear or nonlinear functions to measure stress throughout the structure.
BENEFITS
- Predict the maximum stress in a structure due to external forces or loads as well as the location of all critical stresses
- Validate a new product line meets stress requirements based on expected load demands
- Capability of applying directional load to any location in the model
- Determine the cause of structural bending, fatigue, or failure for an existing field application
- Quick problem diagnoses and corrective suggestions
INTERESTING CASE STUDIES
- Rotor of an electric motor
- Engine carrier skid analysis applying a load of four times gravity
- Wind impact on a structure
